Lewis Carroll Elementary School Reviews

Lewis Carroll is a superb institute. Everyone is friendly and very devoted. My son has been taking speech therapy and OT since he started and the difference is profound. He is more confident in his reading, as well as other skills such as spelling. He loathed spelling tests now he regularly scores 100%. The distinction is the educators as well as the special ed programs that are offered. Lewis Carroll rocks!

Excellent school all the teachers are great and very nice. My child has been here for 5 years and he loves it.

We used this site last year when we moved from Georgia to ease our minds about the schools here in MI. We feel so lucky to have landed at Lewis Carroll. The school staff is so caring and welcoming. Our daughter loves going to school each day. A+

I find the tone of the school to be calm and positive, but am not pleased with the approach to teaching. My child has been in this school for 4 years and every year the days are full of dull and tedious worksheets and workbooks. There is not much room for creative and approaches;individual learning styles and needs are ignored. My child more tailored work and remediation. They only send her to remediation once a week! I pay Sylvan top dollar to give her the support that the school should be providing The reading curriculum stresses the workbook and a computer test each child must take whenever they finish reading a book independently. This has made my daughter to feel reading is WORK and not fun. Above average kids do well here, but children in need of extra support don't get enough of it.I feel for those whose can't afford a tutor.

Great school. Staff & teachers do their best with very limited resources which impacts many things including # of students in classes. Lots of involved parents or other volunteers.

My child just completed Kindergarten here and I am very pleased with the school. There was excellent teacher/parent communication and I always felt welcome by teachers and administrators. I like the fact that the principal stood in the front hallway and greeted students and parents at the beginning of the day. As for extracurricular activities since this was the first year of school, there isn't much for young set except for the ones offered through the aftercare program.

One of thebetter schools in Florida. Overall the State needs to provide a higher quality system and gifted classes that are full time rather than one day a week

We have a son in kindergarten at lewis carroll and have been sappointed. The teachers act as if a requirement for getting into kindergarten is specific knowledge of letters, phonics, etc. There's one requirement for admission: age. Entry isn't contingent upon what your child knows. My son has been treated like a leaper since he entered with 'defiencies' in these areas. A lot of the aftercare woman are mean. My son's teacher degrades him and has him coloring for much of the day: he hates to color! i asked for scores of his entrance and other tests and they were never provided to me. The kindergarten children go to a music class with all these purcussion instruments and, get this, they are not allowed to touch them! the teacher does and then they pretend they are playing their 'imaginary' instruments!

I think that the sfety is the biggest issue. The back gate is left unlocked and anyone could come and go as they please. It isn't safe. The teachers for the most part truly care about the students. The principal I believe is doing her best. We are overcrowded because of the district and she has to work twice as hard to maintain a objective view. If you are coming from somewhere else I would suggest not moving into our area becuase our school already has over 300 students above what we should. But if you have to come to Lewis Carroll know you are coming to a school that has dedicated staff members.

We are very impressed with the school, my children went to Lewis Carroll for several years and we moved out of state and when we came back I made sure that they were in the same school district.

It has been two years since my son attended this school. He has still not recovered completely from the negative effects of one of his teachers at this school. We've moved to another school and this school still hasn't sent on the testing information to the new school. I'm not happy with this school and any parent who chooses to submit their child to attendance at this school should be beware.

Both of my children have started school here and one has now moved on to high school. I have the highest praise for all of the staff at this school. They are very caring and helpful with all their students.

Lower grades (<5th) need extra learning ops in music, arts, gymnastics and languages. Other area charter schools somehow find the time & $ for such, without compromising anything else (Audabon, Gardendale).
