Audubon Elementary School Reviews

My children went there last year and this by far the best school they have ever went to, the princable is great!! and Mrs Liston is the best teacher ever!! we miss you so Much. thanks for all you have done

My child just started kinderdarten and dearly loves his teacher Mrs. Gillis, so do I. I have spent a few days in her class room to help her as well as the kids. They are amazing and friendly. Also egar to learn and help other. So I say this to parent that have had a bad experience here, take a day off work and spend it in your child's class. Then you'll understand why us other parent rave about it.

My child is an out of area student and we love the school so much that we are now entering our son in the kindergarten program as an out of area student. The teachers are caring and very involved with all of the sudents past and present. the principle knows every student by name and is also very caring. The Before/After care staff is the best and the maintenance staff are also very supportive of the students. I would recommend this school to anybody who wants quality education from a very caring staff. The chool is old, but really who's fault is that. They do the best with what they have. CCN

They are much better at teaching girls than boys.

The educators are not child friendly nor are they parent friendly.

Per the previous review, I have always had a one on one conference with the teacher for my children and all of my children's teachers have given out either their cell phone#, home phone# AND email address at the beginning of the year. The person writing that review seems to have a chip on their shoulder. I am at the school a lot believe it to be outstanding, not to say it doesn't have faults, but all schools do. But if you want quality education combined with a caring and involved teaching staff, then come to Audubon!

We love Audubon! All the teachers have been kind and seem to know each child by name. We feel blessed to have our children here.

Unionized school. Teachers work together in teams of four or five, called 'Pods.' Email communication with a teacher is unheard of. Parent/teacher meetings include the entire Pod and a principal representative or not at all. And, meetings must be limited to 30 minutes (do the math: 4 or 5 teachers, 1 principal/asst.; guess how much time 2 parents get?). Young progressive principal, but seems too concerned with the 'ratings system' than with the overall operation of the school. Audobon has an A+ rating and high 'first-time-pass' rate on the FCAT exam which both bode well for teacher quality of instruction for these standards. Who is really succeeding though? Teachers and administrators are certainly building credentials for the next administrative review/appraisal. Could it be all about the pay?

Both of my children went to Audubon from kindergarten on, and my youngest is now a sixth grader. We've had a great experience here, and we're going to be a little sad to leave. They've gotten a terrific academic education, but even more than that Audubon is a warm, caring, nurturing environment. From being an A school, well, just about as long as we've been here, to having a sports program that concentrates on making fitness and activity fun, to being selected by the DOE as a Music Demonstration Site, to putting on a really spectacular art show, you can't beat the education. But the best part is the personal interest of the teachers and staff, how all of them take an interest in ALL the kids, not just their current class. From maintenance to the principal, they all get to know the kids, who recognize the concern.
