Roy Allen Elementary School Reviews

Both of my daughters have gone to Roy Allen since kindergarten and I absolutely love this school. The school is great and the teachers are outstanding. I moved out of the district and still drive my children to this school because I won't send them anywhere else. This is the best school by far!

The teachers are the best!

The teachers at here are the most caring and giving people that any parent could hope to dream of for their kids. The teachers are who make the school work, don't let anybody kids you. They know their stuff, trust them.

My children attended Roy Allen for 2 plus years. At first I was impressed but after my son was diagnosed, ADHD it went downhill. The teachers there are so not up to date about ADHD. My oldest daughter was bllied by e-mail, no help ther by the principal. My youngest child had the worst 1st grade teacher ever. Fortunately we moved to Ohio and to a suburb with a great school system. Needless to say, my kids have had to play catch up as far as academics but what a blessing. It is well worth the 'bad' weather to see my kids shine and thrive in their new schools.

Since my children have attended Roy Allen I have not been happy with the staff at all. The school doesnt have a Welcoming feeling. If I feel like that I can only imagine how the kids feel. Many of the teachers have no compassion for their students. But of course this is only my opinion!

The teachers are the best! No matter what, you know your kids come first.

I have three kids in this school and when the first started I thought it was a great school but for the last year I am thinking a little differently. My kids make staight A's and one is in gifted and one in ESE. I'm a little iffy with ESE and Brevard needs more options for gifted children. We need to keep them challenged! Not give them more of a work load! Lets not punish them for being gifted!

My child was in grade K last yr and was not challenged at all. Another child in a different K class was sent up to first grade for reading. Although my son already knew how to read too, he was not given the same opportunity. He will be in gifted next yr though.

My children (both boys) are entering 5th $ 3rd grades (August 2005). In the last two years I have found my children's interest in school decline significantly. There are several factors which may have contributed to this attitiude change that concern me. First, there is a very heavy focus on testing and preparing for testing, most of which is done with 'seat work' and practice worksheets. There is some creativity in the curriculum, I do not think there is enough, nor is there enough hands-on, group-work opportunities. The second factor is P.E., only once every two weeks on a rotating basis with other 'activity' classes and only one short recess per day - it's not enough for active kids. The third factor is discipline, discipline is important but being a kid is important too. Overall, academic expectations are high which is good, but more creative, active learning opportunities are needed.

Not very impressed; mediocracy will shine here; teachers are good staff is just okay; not much parent involvement at all. This was our first year (kinder) and we will not be returning.

Roy Allen is a decent school overall. The principal and teachers are pretty lame when it comes to bullying though. I have made numerous call and I am always told that 'thats the way kids are today'. I am speaking about verbal bullying and email bullying which I believe is almost as bad as physical bullying.

I have dealt with excellent professionals when it came to my child's learning disablity at Roy Allen. The teachers and staff have gone out of their way to accomodate us and make school a safe comfortable place. The new inclusion plan is wonderful. What great experiences my children have had thus far. Excellent job Roy Allen.

This school has a poor rating for kids with any type of learning disability and/or ADHD, especially with a good student
